Queen of Martyrs Catholic School

Behavior expectations are outlined as a school and in each classroom based upon these pillars. For the 2024-2025 academic year, each teacher will set forth classroom expectations and behavioral guidelines.  Teachers seek to partner with parents proactively through frequent and open communication to instill these values in each student.  

In Preschool, we focus on social development and interaction with peers through Red and Green choices.  Communication with parents is frequent with emphasis on positive reinforcement. 

In Grades K-2, we continue our focus on social engagement and the development of independent skills. Students continue with red and green choices. When students make frequent red choices, teachers will speak individually with them to complete a written self reflection, which will be communicated with the parents.  Communication with parents is frequent with emphasis on individual social and academic growth.

In Grade 3-5, we continue our focus on the development of independent skills, personal responsibility, and increased academic challenges. When student behavior is contrary to our 5 pillars, they will be 1) given a verbal warning, 2) asked to complete a written self reflection, and 3) given a school detention. Communication with parents emphasizes academic growth, individual responsibility, and making good choices. All self reflections and detentions will be clearly communicated with parents.

In Grades 6-8, we focus on the mastery of independent skills, academic resilience, and preparation for high school. When student behavior is contrary to our 5 pillars, they will be 1) given a verbal warning, 2) asked to complete a written self reflection, and 3) given a school detention. Communication with parents emphasizes academic growth, individual responsibility, and positive engagement in the classroom.  All self reflections and detentions will be clearly communicated with parents.  Parent- Teacher conferences may be held to address repeated behavioral concerns.

Positive behavior will be reinforced, recognized, and celebrated on a school wide level in a variety of ways throughout the year. We hope that focusing on these positive behavior traits will make students more conscious of their own choices and impact on the classroom and school community.
