The Queen of Martyrs Athletic Association is excited to announce the return of football in the Fall of ‘24. After months of planning and conversation, we will form a football team for students in Grades 3-5 with the goal of teaching our wildcats the fundamentals of the game and how to play.
"We are beyond excited to bring football back to Queen of Martyrs after a multiyear hiatus. By beginning with Grades 3-5, it is our goal to reinstitute a full Junior Varsity (Grades 5-6) and then Varsity (Grades 7-8) program in the next few years," said QM Athletic President Gary Hammelman.
In the coming weeks, the Athletic Board and School administration plans to name a football coordinator and coach, purchase new equipment, and explore interest in beginning a sideline cheerleading team for Grades 3-5. Additionally, plans are in place to fundraise within the community to purchase new helmets and equipment for the upcoming season.
"I am incredibly grateful for the work and enthusiasm of many of our QM parents, especially the Athletic Association, who made this possible. Queen of Martyrs football has a long history of success, and we are excited for its return," stated Principal Davidson.
Students must be in Grades 3-5 and be enrolled at Queen of Martyrs or the St. Gianna Faith Formation (Religious Education Program) to participate. Registration for new students and families to Queen of Martyrs for 24-25 is currently open.
